Quay Partners Appoints Group CEO In London
March, 2012
Quay Partners, a leading independent private equity and infrastructure funds manager and advisor, is pleased to announce the appointment of Angus Whiteley to the position of Group CEO, based in London. Mr Whiteley comes from a private equity direct investment background having spent the past 12 years in private equity and venture capital. He is a law graduate of Cambridge University.
Mr Whiteley’s appointment follows a range of expansion initiatives by Quay Partners in the private equity and infrastructure fields over the past 3 months, with new hires in its London, Sydney, San Francisco and Boston offices.
Quay Partners’ controlling shareholders, Richard Bowley and Geoff Norman, said:
“We have known Angus for more than 10 years, following an introduction by Richard Thompson, the founding Chairman of private equity fund of funds Pantheon Ventures, and an early shareholder. Angus has worked his entire career to date with Richard Thompson, most recently as co-founders of venture capital firm Solon Ventures.
His first-hand understanding of private equity investing will be an invaluable asset for us. We
believe many of the fund of funds players have over the boom years become guilty of becoming too large and remote from what really makes money at the investment level. This appointment continues Quay Partners strong ex-Pantheon alumni link. We believe we have the team in place to provide exceptional investment management services to leading institutional investors in private equity and infrastructure.”
Angus Whiteley said: “I believe Quay Partners is well positioned to shake up the rigidly structured world of private equity fund of funds. We are set up to be cost effective, we are set up to be flexible to client needs - we have the freedom to think innovatively.
The team has a wealth of experience, but also a willingness to break the mould of historical product structures and pricing. If you are an institutional investor looking to access, rationalise, or benchmark your existing private equity or infrastructure strategies, I believe the Quay Partners offering will stand out.
We will continually question industry norms to ensure that clients achieve their goals from their
private equity programmes. We will do this, because we can.”
